Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Webinar: IntelliDrive Safety Applications for Commercial Vehicles

The FMCSA Office of Analysis, Research and Technology hosted a webinar on IntelliDrive Safety Applications for Commericial Vehicles. TransNow broadcasted this webinar in the TransNow Communication Center, More 110, on Wednesday, January 20.

Region X Reception at the TRB Meeting

The annual Region X Transportation Consortium Reception was held in Washington, DC on January 11, 2010 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in the Stone's Throw private dining room. The reception was held in conjunction with the Annual TRB Meeting. Members of Region X UTCs and DOTs gathered with partners and friends in the industry for free refreshments. This year's reception featured the first annual awarding of the Michael Kyte Region X Student of the Year. The award was created to honor former NIATT Director Michael Kyte for his dedication to the region's collaborative efforts. Each year, the winner will be selected for greatest demonstration of excellence in research, academics, and leadership. The 2009 award recipient is Yegor Malinovskiy, mentioned above. YegorTransNow 2009 Outstanding Student of the Year

Congratulations to Yegor Malinovskiy, TransNow's 2009 Outstanding Student of the Year. Yegor is a PhD student and research assistant for Professor Yinhai Wang in the STAR Lab. He is honored for his excellent research achievement and academic performance. Yegor will be formally recognized by the USDOT at the annual CUTC banquet in Washington, DC. Chris HChris Hunter Joins TransNow as a Visiting Associate Professor for 2009-2010

Chris Hunter, a former TransNow student who received his MS and PhD degrees at the UW, returns as a Visiting Associate Professor for the 2009-2010 Academic Year. He is here on sabbatical from his position as an Associate Professor in the CEE Department at the University of Rhode Island. His primary research interests are in traffic and transit system operations and traffic safety. While here, he will be primarily involved in the preparation of traffic data sets and in the development of VISSIM simulation models of freeway traffic flow for research and laboratory demonstrations of managed traffic lanes, as well as other traffic research. Transportation Students Fall Welcome at UW
