Advanced Institute Proposals - Year 22
The Transportation Northwest Regional Center (TransNow) is requesting proposals for Scholarship and Fellowship funding for its 22nd year of center funding: July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010. Please read through this entire page before entering the online submission system below.
Incomplete proposals will not be accepted. Late proposals will not be considered for funding for the current cycle. Notice of acceptance or rejection for those PI's who submit their completed proposal by the submittal deadline will occur in May 2009.
Proposal Details and Deadline
All proposals will be evaluated by the Center Director according to the following criteria:
- Proof of a cash match (in the form of direct student support only) from a local organization of at least $10 for every $7 of requested federal funds. Note: Internships that directly support student research work leading to theses, research papers, etc. can be counted as cash match.
- Assurance that all recipients are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- Assurance that all recipients have an undergraduate G.P.A of 3.0 or higher
- Assurance that graduate recipients have combined verbal plus quantitative G.R.E. scores of 1100 or better
- Assurance that graduate recipients have individual verbal or quantitative G.R.E. scores of 400 or better
- Assurance that fellowship and scholarship recipients will take courses and or conduct research projects in the TransNow theme areas
Proposals for advanced institute funding must be submitted no later than 4:00 p.m. (PST) Monday, April 27, 2009.
Additional Restrictions
Advanced Institute funding will only be awarded to TransNow universities that have submitted the requested information on Performance Indicators (for TransNow’s USDOT reporting). Please contact TransNow at 206-543-8255 if you have any questions about previously requested Performance Indicator information.
Submittal Process
Please fill out and submit the following forms in electronic format via e-mail to TransNow at transnow@u.washington.edu (or CD via postal mail) along with a cash match commitment letter signed by the person authorized to commit the funds.

*If detailed student recipient info is not known at the time of the application a cover letter assuring the five criteria will be met in the student selection process must be sent by the faculty member responsible for student selection. This detailed information will be requested again at the beginning of the academic quarter.
